Poetry Friday: Cut

It’s F-R-I-D-A-Y! But not just any ordinary Friday. It’s Poetry Friday. The omnipotent Poetry Friday monarch, the lovely Mona has offered up the word, cut.

When one does a drawing of a sculpture by another artist, calling it art is a bit iffy, so we will call this week’s contribution a figure study. This sketch is of a bronze statue from James Park a lovely recreational space in the windy city, Chicago. This figure epitomizes cut. I doubt there was a single relaxed muscle on the entire figure.

A secondary offering of Peter Murphy, Cuts you up.

I had the Peter Murphy song stuck in my head all day. It’s on my mixed tape in my Subaru. I have cut abs…. or not.

my best friend in high school and i used to go to the movies in newport beach, ca. we’d sit up in the balcony and smoke cloves and endlessly watch that david bowie movie the hunger (was that the title? i can’t even remember now) and bauhaus sang “bela legosi’s dead”…)

So does your sketch. Damn, you’re good.

  6. Nancy_Dancehall Says:

Don’t you think he would have made the best Vampire Lestat?

  7. sari Says:

I think Tom Cruise could arguably have RUINED Lestat for me. Honestly, he could not have been MORE wrong.

    I’m with Sari.

    flutter,thank you.

egan, Of course you have cut abs, it’s a triathlete prerequisite. Me? I just have abs, at least I think I have abs, maybe I packed them in my other tuxedo.

sari, peter gets regular play on radio paradise. Now that I think about it, so does David Bowie.

Nancy, actually I roll. Down the stairs and to the chow bowl.

Nancy, thank you. You probably remember what this statues mate looks like.

Nancy, a much better choice than the couch jumper!

sari, I couldn’t agree more, but I haven’t seen a cruise role that worked for me since Risky Business.

Maggie, Fist Bump, sister! How was vacation?
