I’ve been emotionally unavailable, and I apologize. I know you guys are totally shocked. It isn’t like an ordinary house cat to be so distant from people. In an effort to win my way back into your good graces, I am participating, once again, in Mona’s profound vision known to all of you, in-the-know-types as Poetry Friday.
My thoughts are disjointed and I am desperately struggling with subject verb agreement, so I offer you all I have left to give. A list of events that are moderately pertinent to this week’s word surprise.
Surprise #1: We are moving next month. The Missus didn’t have the common courtesy to tell me. Instead she packed my cat bed in a cardboard box. Gradually, other useful household items have been packed away as well, but it hasn’t gone unnoticed that the liquor cabinet remains untouched. The big event happens next month, and I must say, I am tickled shitless about the prospect of traveling in plastic crate for six hours. I will need a stiff drink or kitty prozac to make the trip work. On a more positive note, I offer you my moving announcement that wasn’t completed in time to actually mail:
Surprise #2: Missus Chica tried unsuccessfully to extract the tip of her bird finger with a bread knife. There was lots of grunting, surprisingly no f-bombs, and a desperate plea to the Mister for super glue. I almost forgot, there was also lots of blood, but there were no stitches. There was however a Dr Seuss style first aid wrap on the bird finger so the Missus could finish spreading pine straw in the flower beds. Stubborn. Today, life has returned to normal, and swearing is at the acceptable minimum.
Surprise #3: The inconsiderate door to door salesman or jehovah’s witness who knocked on the door when the folks were having a nooner after lunch. ‘Nuf said.
